Emporia 5 miler that really was a 5k

After the disaster of a race in Texas (though Ben did good), I had to redeem myself in some way and of course it had to be a foot race. Though I've never considered myself a runner, running has always been my fall back. My comfort sport. I saw that the next weekend there was a 5 mile race (at least I thought it was a 5 mile race) up in Emporia, Kansas, about an hour and a half north east of Wichita. 5 miles, what a great distance, so I got information. Later I found out it was only a 5k, but I can't complain. It did make me feel better. I ran it in 23:58. Close if not equal to my PR (personal record) for the distance. The weather was great, it was for a good cause (Emporia State University student scholarships) and I finished third overall in the woman. By the way, I think 3 is my lucky running number. In the past I've finished 3rd in several 5ks and the first triathlon I ever did. Its not like I aim to get third, it just happens.
