Yesterday Ben and I ran the annual Wichita Riverfest RiverRun 10k (6.2 miles). The Riverfest is an annual festival (since 1972) in Wichita, a lot like the Macon Cherry blossom festival. Ben's goal was an 8 minute mile average and mine was to finish under 50 minutes. We both exceeded our goals with Ben finishing in 45:25 and I finished in 48:55. This picture was taken after the race. Everyone who finished got a medallion which was nice. Ben & I ate lunch at the riverfest which consisted of some typical fair foods, chicken on a stick, a loaf of fries, and an apple dumpling with ice cream. Last night Three Dog Night was the headliner for the concert, but because of the weather (rain and really strong winds) it was cancelled. Of course, it wasn't cancelled until 20 minutes after they were supposed to take the stage, so Ben and I (and hundreds of Wichitans) sat outside in the windy, wet, sort of cold weather. I was really looking forward to "Joy to the World" and all, but maybe someday I'll get to see them.
Happy Mother's Day!!
