So a couple days ago I did it. I bought the only car I could find. For a mere $300 I bought a 1992 Nissan Skyline. A what? Some car that car enthusiasts get excited about. Apparently Japan stopped making them in the late 1990s...or so I've heard and a 2 door version was in the movie "The Fast and the Furious." The real kicker, its a right side drive car. Some person at some time brought this car over from Japan (where they drive on the same side of the road as the English) and for years it has been passed down from person to person here. I think I'm the 3rd ADC to get this car. Anyway, it drives and for that I'm thankful. Ben suggested I name the car Bizarro, similar to Bizarro Superman, but I think I just might call the car Biz. And if you are wondering if there are many $300 or less cars being driven on this base, the answer is yes. My car is at least one of the nicer looking ones, but I don't think that says much.
Today I borrowed one of the legal office members, a nice English speaking Korean woman, and she helped me get down to City Hall in Kunsan city so I could register the car (what it really means is that I can drive it off base now). Guess how much it cost? 1000 won. What is that in dollars? About $1. Yep. That's it. Thankfully the drive was uneventful, but from what I've heard, Koreans are crazy drivers. I guess I'll find that out another day.
