Raising money for Carcinoid research

In 2006, one of my good friends, Kari, was diagnosed with Carcinoid cancer. I was shocked. She is a little younger than me. I had only known of older people as those who were diagnosed with cancer, but Kari's diagnosis brought a whole new reality to me. Cancer can affect anyone...people I love and people who are young and have a great future ahead of them. She had originally been diagnosed with IBS but had really been living with cancer for many years before she was diagnosed with carcinoid. You can learn more on her website http://www.mycarcinoidstory.com/ I would tell you more, but she really says it best. Her brother and one of his friends are running the Chicago marathon and in conjunction are raising money for carcinoid research. Please check out their website http://www.firstgiving.com/joshandclint if you would like to donate to the cause. I don't usually ask people to donate money, but Kari is a good friend of mine and asked me (and others) to pass the word to family and friends, and I figured this blog was the best way to do it. She has inspired me and so many other people and donating money to help find a cure to what she has is one way to give back. Even now, 2 years later, Kari is stable but not in remission. Hopefully a cure will be found soon, and with your help, maybe sooner than later.
