3rd Multifunctional Administration City Sejong National Marathon and Gunsan cherry blossoms

On Saturday Ben and I drove up to the Daejeon area and ran a 10k race. The race was a part of the 3rd Multifunctional Administrative city Sejong National Marathon. The strange thing was the longest distance you could run was a half marathon, but that's ok. We arrived a little early, but that gave us time to look around. We were each given 2 rulers that I think were advertising a festival nearby. When we lined up to race we had to raise our hands above our heads and yell really loud before the countdown started to begin the race. It was kind of fun. The race was a down and back and pretty flat. The weather was also really nice. I felt good for 2/3rds of the race, but then kind of faded that last 2 miles. I ended up running it in 50:50, which was a few seconds ahead of Ben. :) I had wanted to run it a little faster than that, but I'll have to do that in my next 10k which should be on the 10th of May. After the race we were given some rice beer (white liquid that is pretty strong)and some noodles with kimchi, green onions and dried seaweed. Not exactly the bananas I'm used to after a race, but it was nice they gave us food. We were even given some strawberries, which made Ben happy. After the race we stopped off at the Gunsan Cherry Blossom festival at Eunpa lake. We didn't stay long, but walked along the cherry blossoms and the bridge that crosses over the lake. I love cherry blossoms. You should click on the picture below to see the cherry blossoms blowing in the wind. It's pretty cool.
