China Trip - Day 5 (Xi'an and Chengdu)
We wanted to see some of the city wall of Xi'an so we got up early and went for a run. While running around the wall
we saw that a lot of the people of Xi'an were also up working out either by running, playing ping pong,
or using the outside exercise equipment.
We even tried a few.
We also ran by a pretty bridge to a park.
We then went to the Shaanxi Provincial Museum
which included more Terracotta Warriors.
This was about as close as we could get to them and caught some more of the detail that went into each one of these warriors.
Outside the museum we were asked by a young Chinese couple if they could take some pictures of us with their young daughter. We were happy to do so, even though we thought it was really entertaining and a little odd. The poor girl looked scared of us, but we tried our best to not be scary. We then walked to the Big Goose Pagoda to see it in the daytime. On the way to it a pickpocket took my camera out of my coat pocket. I thankfully caught that it was missing right away (he wasn't very good) and went to the suspicious looking guy and yelled at him. He gave me back my camera with little to no resistance. I was pretty mad after that and felt stupid too for not protecting my camera very well. At least I got it back. Ben thought it was entertaining.
We went up in the pagoda and saw Xi'an sights

and then went to the Temple of the 8 Immortals
and tried to find Walmart (it was on the map but no luck). We checked out of the hostel and then took a hired car (through the hostel) to the tomb of Emperor Jingdi
on the way to the airport. The tomb was not crowded and was pretty cool. The museum contained many things excavated from the tomb including animals and people.

We then flew from Xi'an to Chengdu in the Sichuan province (the province that was hit with the earthquake last May). We were then supposed to take a 2 hour bus ride to Emei so we would be close to the park we were visiting the next day. We knew that the last bus left Chengdu at 7pm and our flight arrived a little after 6pm. Even though we rushed we missed that bus so we enlisted the help of a hostel to try and find a way to get to Emei through other means. Unfortunately that didn't pan out and we ended up spending a night in Chengdu. We were able to taste some of the spicy Sichuan Chinese food, we had twice baked pork which had hot green chilies and pork and also had rice and sweet and sour pork. It was all really good. I was a little sad we couldn't make the bus, but when you have such a packed itinerary it was likely something wouldn't go as planned.
