Purdue v Toledo (Sep 5)

Yesterday Ben and I went to the first game of the Purdue football season to cheer on the Boilers. Purdue played the Toledo Rockets and I was so happy and excited to be there. It only took 3 hours to drive up to West Lafayette and the trip was really easy. We picked up our tickets and then went to watch the band's concert at Slayter center. It is always a strange experience being in the audience and watching the marching band. I have only done it 3 times and this time was the 2nd actually at Purdue (the other was at a bowl game). I felt like the typical alumni commenting to Ben how things have changed since I was a member of the band. The band sounded great though and I enjoyed the concert. We had some time before the pre-game show began, so we stopped by the Boilermaker special and Big Drum to get a couple pictures. We then headed to our seats which we were close to the field. Good for football, not so good for viewing band formations. Luckily there was the jumbotron to show us. Pre-game was different then it had before with the football team being on the field for the National Anthem. It was mandated Big Ten wide that the teams were to be on the field when the anthem was played, which was a great idea. Halftime seemed short to me. The game was pretty good and I was glad that Purdue won. Here are some pictures from a couple touchdowns and the cheerleaders. It was great to see the win.We won't be back until October to see Purdue play Ohio State. On our walk back to the car we passed the new Neil Armstrong Engineering building. It looked pretty nice.
