Last Weekend - dinner out with some ROKAF and Ben's coworkers
I know, it's almost been a week since we did this, and I apologize for slacking in my blog posting. Posting everyday of our vacation wore me out a little bit. On the 12th we went out to dinner with some of Ben's co-workers, including some members of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). It was actually pretty good and very filling meal. We had pork and kimchi (of course), mandu (steamed dumplings with either meat or kimchi in them), radish kimchi, and of course some Soju. Also some soup and thick green noodles, but the soup had a lot of seafood in it, so I didn't eat much of that.
We sat on the floor, Korean style. It's always fun to sit on the floor for a meal. Luckily they have cushions, but the guys had a hard time folding their legs under the tables. I guess being tall isn't so great when you eat like this. Not that I'm tall, but I can imagine being tall. I'm almost getting used to eating with chopsticks. The problem is that I don't eat every single meal with them. If I did, I would be awesome. The mandu was huge and hard to grab with your chopsticks. You couldn't put one of those in your mouth at one time, though I think some one did, but it didn't look fun. Eating with metal chopsticks is hard, but, most places you go, that's what you get. A lot of times we are asked if we want a fork, and out of pride (or stupidity) we (or at least I) say I am just fine with my chopsticks. I do like forks, but there is something to say for eating with chopsticks too. I always enjoying going out with the ROKAF. I am jealous that Ben get's to work so closely with the Koreans. I think that is one of the best parts of being in a foreign country. They are so nice and funny. It's always a good time.
