China Trip - Day 7 (Emei Shan and Chengdu)

We expected sunrise to be around 7am, so we woke up in time to go see the sunrise. Supposedly the sunrise on the summit was amazing. Unfortunately it was too misty and cloudy, so we didn't see much of anything. Here I am waiting. We bought a lock the day before, had our names and the date engraved on it and we locked it to a chain at the summit. Now everyone will know we were there. :) We took the short cable car from the summit down and then started our hike. Just outside the cable car building though was our first monkey sighting. They were pretty amazing and a little scary. Some of them were pretty big and were jumping at people. One had really big teeth, though that picture didn't really come out. We quickly moved through that section even though we were glad to see the monkeys. There were tons of places along the trail to buy food and water including several places you could buy different types of fungus. We took a different way down which included seeing some waterfalls and flowers. We reached the area called Joking Monkey area which was where we had our second monkey experience. This was a different area, close enough that if you didn't really want to hike much you could still come and see the monkeys. The area to the right was this area and it was an additional cost. We didn't have time to actually go in there and honestly were a little afraid, but we took a few pictures. We saw this pavilion and the beautiful blue water. This gate welcomed people coming into the park this way.Once we got to the parking lot we took a minibus down the rest of the mountain, collected our clean laundry and took a bus back to Chengdu. We arrived at the airport, ate an expensive (but yet minimal) dinner and checked in. We had a gate change and when we went to the second gate we saw that the flight was cancelled due to weather. It was already late, so the airline took us and a lot of other people to a hotel that seemed like it was especially for people to stay with cancelled flights. We were told that the bus would take us to the airport at 5:30am and so we called our hotel in Shanghai and told them we wouldn't make it that night and went to sleep. Even though we never intended staying a night in Chengdu, this made it 2 nights in Chengdu and yet we didn't even get to see the city.
