Mt. Sorak Day 1

Ben with a large bronze Buddha statue

Us at the Ulsanbawi Rock
View of East Sea (or Sea of Japan)
I can't believe it is already Friday and I'm a week behind in posting this. More than likely its because we got back to Osan late on Monday and I left for Okinawa early on Tuesday and have been working since.

So, last weekend, Ben and I took a bus adventure to the northeast part of Korea. The buses were really comfortable. On one side of the aisle were 2 seats and on the other only one. They were the nicest buses I've ever been on. We had to take 2 buses to get to Sokcho. Once we got to Sokcho we took a city bus to our hotel which was British themed. We only had time to hike one trail on Saturday, so we hiked up to Ulsanbawi rock. It was crazy busy and the staircases leading up and down parts of this trail were really steep. I couldn't believe how many people were on this trail. It made it not as peaceful as it could have been. From the top you could see all of the park and also the East Sea (which is also known as the Sea of Japan, but I don't think the Koreans call it that). On the way down we saw a mountain goat that reminded me of Pattie. I really miss that dog. For dinner we went into Sokcho and ate some galbi (grilled beef ribs) and went to Emart which is much like Walmart. We both bought Korean hiking shirts there and some food for breakfast the next day.
